BIO

Kyle is a design researcher in the department of architecture at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and currently works within the MIT Self-Assembly Lab. He has worked as a designer for the Garage Museum of Contemporary Art in Moscow Russia, as an architect for His Highness Sheikh Hamdan, The Crown Prince of Dubai, and as a project manager for a development in Shanghai China. He has a Bachelor of Architecture from the Southern California Institute of Architecture and has studied at Universität für angewandte Kunst Wien in Austria. His work has been exhibited at the Venice Biennale in Italy, The Victoria & Albert Museum in London, the Pompidou Center in Paris, the Royal Academy of Art in Denmark, and the Het Nieuwe Instituut in the Netherlands.

As a research associate in the Self-Assembly Lab, he is working under the direction of Skylar Tibbits with the fashion designer Hussein Chalayan to create ready to wear clothing that allows the wearer to alter and transform the piece, fabrication techniques are being developed with magnetic printing, liquid printed pneumatics, active textiles, and auxetics.
